Education Reform Now is an organization that supports K12 education platforms through support of aligned political candidates across six states in the United States. Our partnership involved the implementation of an HR strategic plan with a focus on operational efficiencies and incorporating more equitable processes to support the hiring, development, and retention of staff. 

A key area of focus was enhancing their technology tools to improve efficiency With 1.5 FTEs in HR, there was a need to help identify organizational goals, track performance and alignment to those goals, and streamline where possible all aspects of the talent lifecycle.  

To achieve this, we implemented a 4 step process:

  1. Needs Assessment: As a third-party consulting organization, we brought a clear understanding of industry standards and best practices. This allowed us to evaluate the organization's requirements accurately. Growing organizations often struggle to gauge their technology needs, sometimes investing in features they aren't ready for or haven't grown into yet. Our assessment considered the employee size, required technology capabilities, and how existing processes and tools served the organization.

  2. Technology Specifications Match: Next as a thought partner we helped assess various technology platforms in partnership with the leadership team. Drawing from best practice knowledge, we examined different technology options, including an applicant tracking system and a performance management platform with goals and objective key results tracking. We consistently exclaimed the organization’s need, and tech maturity with the various platforms presented which enabled us to find the best fit within the organization's budget.

  3. Organizational Implementation: Lastly we supported the implementation of the chosen technology platform. We provided external capacity by collaborating with the technology partner to develop a change management rollout strategy for all staff. This support included training managers, ensuring employee buy-in, and preparing consistent documents and tools for easy accessibility.

As a result of our support, Education Reform Now: 

  • Implemented a performance management system inclusive of the ability to track performance, provide feedback, and develop individuals within the chosen platform 

  • Minimized HR preparation time to administer performance management process by 100% automating the process and removing spreadsheet forms

  • Remained within the budgeted lens of the organization 

  • Increased transparency and communication across the organization through the platform
